When a crown is the right choice
We recommend a crown when a tooth can't be reliably repaired with a filling. Common reasons:
- A cracked tooth, or one that hurts when you bite
- A large old filling that is breaking down
- A tooth that has had a root canal, especially a back tooth
- A broken or badly worn tooth
- To cap a dental implant
Bridges for missing teeth
A fixed bridge replaces one or more missing teeth with a false tooth held in place by crowns on the neighboring teeth. It doesn't come out, and it stops nearby teeth from drifting into the gap. If the neighboring teeth are healthy and unfilled, a dental implant may be the better option, and we'll talk through both.
What to expect
- 01
Exam and plan
We check the tooth, take X-rays, and explain why a crown (or something simpler) makes sense, with costs up front.
- 02
Prepare the tooth
After numbing, we shape the tooth and take an impression. You leave with a temporary crown.
- 03
Fit the final crown
A couple of weeks later, we check the fit, color and bite, then cement it in place.
